The game remained close through the middle innings before a flurry of action in the fourth inning shifted momentum. Texas took an early 1-0 lead in the second when Wade Jr. singled to right field, allowing Altuve to score and Smith to reach third. The Rangers tied the game at 1-1 in the third inning when Langford homered to left field, measuring 348 feet.
The fourth inning proved pivotal for Houston. Osuna singled to right, driving in Carter to make it 2-1. Diaz followed with a sacrifice bunt that allowed Duran to score, tying the game at 2-2.
