Late Surge Secures Victory
The Houston Astros completed a remarkable comeback against the Los Angeles Angels, scoring four runs in the final inning to claim a 6-4 victory at Angel Stadium on Tuesday. The win improved Houston’s record to 53-55, while the Angels fell to 42-65.
Los Angeles had established a commanding 4-0 lead by the end of the fourth inning, fueled by consistent offense and solid pitching from starter Walbert Urena. The Angels struck first in the top of the first inning when Neto scored on a sacrifice fly by Schanuel, followed immediately by another run as Grissom’s single allowed Trout to cross home plate.
In the third, Grissom extended the lead with a 395-foot home run to left-center, and Adell added an insurance run later in the frame with a double that scored Lowe.
Houston began chipping away at the deficit in the fourth inning when Trammell launched a 412-foot home run to center field, cutting the gap to 4-1. The Astros continued to apply pressure in the eighth inning, as Alvarez’s single to left field brought Peña home, making the score 4-2.
Ninth-Inning Explosion
The game turned decisively in the bottom of the ninth inning when the Astros mounted a four-run rally. It began with Spence grounding into a fielder's choice, but an error by Angels second baseman Grissom allowed Trammell to score and advanced Allen to third base.
Paredes followed by reaching on a hit-by-pitch, which scored Spence after the Angels challenged the call; the umpires upheld the original call. Wade Jr. then walked, bringing Paredes to second and Alvarez to third, with Peña remaining at first. Another challenge by Los Angeles was denied, allowing Peña to score from third base.
