Alvarez Powers Astros to Shutout

Yordan Alvarez drove in all four runs for the Houston Astros, leading the home team to a 4-0 victory over the Athletics at Daikin Park on Saturday. The Astros improved to 65-64, while the Athletics fell to 49-80 in the contest. The game saw no home runs, with all scoring coming off extra-base hits and sacrifice flies.

Scoring Unfolds in Late Innings

The Astros took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Carlos Paredes scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Walker. In the bottom of the fifth, Alvarez doubled to center, allowing Allen to score. Later in the same inning, Paredes doubled to right, bringing Alvarez home.

The final run was scored in the bottom of the seventh when Alvarez doubled to shortstop, driving in Delgado.

Pitching Performance

Hayden Wesneski earned the win for Houston, pitching five innings with one hit, three walks, and four strikeouts. He was followed by Bennett Sousa, who pitched one inning with two hits and three strikeouts. Bryan Abreu pitched one inning, allowing two walks and striking out two batters. Steven Okert and Enyel De Los Santos each pitched one inning without allowing hits or walks.

For the Athletics, J.T. Ginn took the loss after pitching five innings, allowing six hits, three earned runs, and two walks while striking out four. Elvis Alvarado pitched one inning with one hit and one strikeout.

Drew Rom pitched one and one-third innings, allowing two hits, one earned run, and one walk. Hayden Juenger pitched two-thirds of an inning without allowing hits, earned runs, or walks.

Attendance and Venue

The game was played at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas, with an attendance of 28,477. The Astros' offense was efficient, scoring four runs without any home runs. The Athletics failed to score in any of the seven innings they batted in, managing only one hit in the first five innings.
