Jack in the Box Inc. announced that its board of directors has appointed Taylor Montgomery as President, a position effective September 14, 2026. The company, which is headquartered in San Diego, created this new role to lead brand strategy. Montgomery’s responsibilities will include driving sustainable sales growth, enhancing franchisee profitability, and positioning the business for long-term success.

This appointment is part of a succession plan previously disclosed by the company. Montgomery is expected to become Chief Executive Officer within the next 12 months and will join the board of directors at that time. During the transition period, he will collaborate with Mark King, who serves as Executive Chairman and Interim Chief Executive Officer.

King will remain as Chairman after the transition is complete.

Mark King expressed confidence in Montgomery’s leadership capabilities, noting his track record in driving brand growth. King stated that Montgomery brings a deep understanding of the franchised quick-service restaurant industry and is well-positioned to advance the company’s strategy. Montgomery responded by expressing excitement about leading the brand’s next chapter and creating value for shareholders.

He emphasized his intent to work with the leadership team and franchisees to accelerate same-store sales growth and strengthen restaurant-level execution.

Prior to joining Jack in the Box, Montgomery served as Global Chief Brand Officer at Taco Bell, a brand under Yum! Brands. In that role, he oversaw a system with more than 9,000 restaurants and over $18 billion in sales.

During his tenure, Taco Bell reported sales growth of over 7%, restaurant growth of 3%, and profit growth of 8% in the previous year. Montgomery spent more than a decade at Yum! Brands, holding various leadership positions in brand marketing and innovation.

He was named to Forbes’ World’s Most Influential CMOs list in 2024.

Before his time at Yum! Brands, Montgomery spent more than five years at Procter & Gamble, where he held brand strategy roles across multiple consumer brands. Jack in the Box operates approximately 2,115 restaurants across 25 states, Mexico, and Guam.

Jack in the Box employs about 25 people in Princeton, according to local government records.
