A Tale of Two Halves
The Dallas Mavericks overcame a significant second-half deficit to defeat the Miami Heat 113-109 at Kaseya Center on Monday. The victory improved Dallas’s record to 2-2, while Miami fell to 0-4 on the young season.
The game began with Miami controlling the tempo. The Heat jumped out to an early lead, capitalizing on efficient shooting and aggressive drives. By halftime, the visitors had erased their deficit, but the third quarter belonged entirely to the home team.
Miami’s offense exploded for 32 points in the period, highlighted by a barrage of three-pointers and consistent interior scoring. They built a commanding 87-81 lead heading into the final frame.
The Fourth Quarter Collapse
Dallas refused to yield. The Mavericks’ defense tightened, forcing key turnovers and limiting Miami’s high-volume shooting to just 25 points in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, Dallas matched their offensive output with 30 points of their own. The game remained tight until the final minutes, when Cooper Flagg began to take control.
With the score tied at 108-108 late in regulation, Flagg hit a crucial 24-foot three-pointer to give Dallas a 111-108 lead. Miami responded with a quick two-point basket, but Flagg sealed the game with a driving layup with seconds remaining, pushing the score to 113-112 before Miami could add one more point.
