Late Surge Decides Tense Affair

The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Houston Texans 34-30 on Sunday at Reliant Stadium, snapping a three-game losing streak while extending Houston’s winless start to four games. In a contest defined by back-and-forth scoring, the visitors mounted a decisive late rally to secure the victory.

The final blow came in the fourth quarter when CeeDee Lamb caught a 12-yard pass from Dak Prescott for the touchdown that put the game away, capping a 34-30 final score.

Field Goals and Early Leads

The game opened with an early advantage for the home team. Nico Collins caught a seven-yard pass from C.J. Stroud to give Houston a 7-0 lead.

Dallas responded with a 39-yard field goal by Brandon Aubrey, but Ka'imi Fairbairn extended the Texans’ lead with a 51-yard kick. The first half was marked by a barrage of special teams points. Aubrey kicked a 50-yard field goal to make it 7-10, followed by Fairbairn connecting from 39 and 54 yards out.

The third quarter saw the first touchdowns of the game for both sides. Javonte Williams rushed for an eight-yard score, cutting Houston’s lead to 16-13. However, Stroud and Collins reconnected for a 22-yard touchdown pass to restore the home team’s advantage at 23-13.

Williams then struck again with a one-yard rush, bringing Dallas within three points heading into the final frame. The quarter ended with Houston holding a 23-20 lead after a series of scoring plays that kept the game tightly contested.

Final Stretch and Records

The fourth quarter featured a dramatic exchange of touchdowns. Williams added a 2-yard rushing touchdown to give Dallas a 27-23 lead. Woody Marks responded with a six-yard rush for Houston, tying the game at 30-30.

With the outcome hanging in the balance, Prescott found Lamb for the decisive 12-yard score. Auburn’s subsequent kick secured the 34-30 win. In the stat lines, Stroud completed 21 of 31 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns, while Prescott threw for 335 yards and one touchdown on 32 of 45 attempts.

Williams rushed for 62 yards and three touchdowns, and Lamb hauled in 17 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown. The victory lifts Dallas to 2-2, while Houston remains 0-4.
