New paperwork filed with the state is filling in details on the Kroger Marketplace planned along U.S. 380 in Princeton.
A project registration filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, dated Sept. 24, describes a new food store and site work at 1120 W. Princeton Drive totaling 99,992 square feet. The filing lists an estimated construction cost of $10.7 million, a start date of Jan. 28, 2027, and completion on Oct. 8, 2027.
The owner is listed as Kroger Texas LP, and the design firm is Heights Venture Architects of Plano. The state's accessibility review of the project shows as complete.
Kroger officials told MySA, which reported the filing Monday, that the total development will cost closer to $40 million. According to MySA, the store will have a full grocery, a pharmacy, expanded general merchandise, a Murray's Cheese counter, grab-and-go kiosks and a fuel center with 14 fueling positions, and Kroger expects it to create about 200 jobs.
Kroger told the outlet it still plans to open by late 2027 and that the timeline could change.
"Kroger will give residents more choices and help keep sales tax dollars in Princeton," Mayor Eugene Escobar Jr. told MySA in an email.
