Princeton voters can start casting ballots for the Nov. 3 election this morning, and the one early voting site inside the city is the main lobby of the Steven and Judy Deffibaugh Community Center, 416 N. 4th St.

That is the only Princeton address among the 42 early voting locations in Collin County's polling list for the election. Collin County uses vote centers, so registered voters in the county can cast a ballot at any of its designated sites during early voting and on Election Day, the elections department says.

Hours

  • Monday, Oct. 19, through Friday, Oct. 23: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 24: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 25: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Monday, Oct. 26, through Friday, Oct. 30: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The county lists Friday, Oct. 23, as the last day to apply for a mail ballot.

Election Day sites in Princeton

On Tuesday, Nov. 3, the community center stays open and two other sites with Princeton addresses join it: the board room of the Princeton ISD Administration Building, 804 Mabel Ave., and the fellowship hall at Your Community Church - Branch, 7011 FM 546.

Early sites a short drive away include Lavon City Hall's gymnasium at 120 School Road, Collin College's Farmersville campus at 501 S. Collin Parkway, the Josephine Community Center at 404 Main St. and Melissa City Hall at 3411 Barker Ave.

What to bring

Texas voters must show one of seven forms of photo identification at the polls: a Texas driver license, election identification certificate, personal identification card or handgun license issued by the Department of Public Safety, a U.S. military ID card, a U.S. citizenship certificate or a U.S. passport, according to a Texas Tribune guide published Friday.

Voters who do not have one of those can still vote by showing another document with their name and address, such as a utility bill, bank statement or paycheck, and signing a reasonable impediment declaration, the guide says, citing the Texas secretary of state. Polling places must offer curbside voting for people with disabilities.

Princeton ballots include contested races for the city council and the Princeton ISD board along with Collin County and Collin College bond propositions. Sample ballots for each precinct are posted on the county elections website.
