Princeton City Council has delayed for two weeks its decision on whether to keep a federal grant that would pay part of the cost of six new firefighters, according to the city's summary of Tuesday's meeting.
The council tabled the item to its Oct. 26 regular meeting, the summary posted Wednesday says. It also tabled a final plat for the next phase of the Crossmill subdivision.
Grant still undecided
The tabled resolution would repeal the council's earlier approval and rescind the city's application for FEMA's Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant, in effect turning down the award. The Fire Department told the council the earlier approval rested on inaccurate figures. Its presentation says the award covers 75% of the cost in each of the first two years and 35% in the third, rather than the 100%, 70% and 50% council was told in May, and that the city would carry the full cost of the six positions after that.
The department's presentation framed the choice as declining the award or accepting it and working with the Finance Department to cover the city's share. The summary does not say why the item was tabled.
Crossmill Phase 1B waits too
Forestar (USA) Real Estate Group is seeking a final plat for Crossmill Phase 1B, 31.852 acres at the northeast corner of Cypress Bend Parkway and Myrick Lane. The land is in the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction, where Princeton handles platting and will supply water and wastewater service, according to a staff memo. All of its streets, including Cypress Bend Parkway, would be private.
