Princeton's Pumpkin BooLooza returns Saturday, Oct. 17, and anyone planning to go should pack differently this year: the city is applying its clear-bag policy to the festival.

The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at J.M. Caldwell Sr. Community Park, 500 W. College Ave. Admission and parking are free, according to the city's event page. Parking and overflow parking will be at the park, and the city will run a go-cart shuttle between the lots and the festival.

Bags and pets

The city says the clear-bag rule is meant to improve safety and speed up entry by limiting what size and style of bags can come in. Its full policy and a list of prohibited items are posted on the city website. Trick-or-treat bags that are not clear are still allowed, but they must be empty when their owners arrive.

The city is also asking people to leave pets at home. Its event page describes a crowded evening with loud music and costumes and says that kind of setting can stress animals.

What's planned

The city lists free entertainment and activities, a trunk-or-treat run in partnership with Princeton ISD, a DJ, costume contests, a petting zoo, food vendors and strolling characters. The vendor list has not been posted yet. Businesses interested in sponsoring can send a completed form to sponsorships@princetontx.us; questions go to events coordinator Yvette Gallardo through the city.

Before that: National Night Out

National Night Out falls on Tuesday, Oct. 6. The city has posted notice that members of the City Council and its boards and commissions may attend neighborhood gatherings that evening between 6 and 8:30 p.m. at Arcadia Farms, DeBerry Estates, 899 E. Hazelwood, Trails of Riverstone, Princeton Lakes and Windmore. The notice says no formal action will be taken.
